Many accounts include numerous visuals that identify types of body modiﬁcations and related body practices. For example, Primitives: Tribal Body Art and the Left-Hand Path (2002), by anthropologist Charles Gatewood, photographically documents subcultural body styles, such as tattoos, piercings, and brands.
